Event cancelled – Saturday, 3rd March

There will be NO Lincoln parkrun on Saturday, 3rd March. This is due to the snow, ice and terrible conditions, both in the park and surrounding areas. Apologies for this and we will see you all again soon.

Louisa Dennett, Event Director.

Cancellation – advanced notice

No parkrun on 8th July 2017

Please note that Lincoln parkrun is cancelled on 8th July 2017 because of the Annual Summer Fair taking place in the park.

Event 174 – 06/05/2017

Deserted by Spring Weather

Saturday morning rose cold and chilly with the promise of spring into summer weather looking like it had deserted us. This didn’t stop the hardy crowd that are parkrunners. A large influx of first timers and tourists from as far afield as Huddersfield, Dundee, Nottingham and Australia were greeted by Jim with our traditional friendly Lincoln welcome.

Another tourist was the regular tail runner from Pontefract parkrun – John Bell who was enjoying a visit to Lincoln. He was full of tales and thoroughly enjoyed his run with us, applauding the route, marshals and the well earned refreshments from the Bowls Club.

Celebrations this week started with Jack Heatherly reaching his 10th parkrun.

Heather Saunders was very excited at getting as far as 50 parkruns.

Marking a full house of 100 parkruns were Paul Wood, Tim Butler and ever regular Wayne Lathwell.

Congratulations to them all and every runner who makes the effort to get out of bed and join us at 0900 every Saturday.

Birthday wishes went to Fiona Nott and Julian Haywood, both sharing the badge of honour.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers, our Hi-viz heroes, who turn out to make the whole event possible every week – sorry I missed you in the brief – Ooops!! Won’t happen next weekend.

Despite reminders a few finish tokens went missing – 182, 308, 309 and 404 so if anyone still has them in their pocket, please return them – Thank you.

Here’s hoping the weather picks up and we get back to some sunshine and warmer temperatures for next weeks parkrun.

parkrun cheering station – 2017

parkrun supporting

Lincoln parkrun will be setting up a 'cheering point' at the Lincoln 10k race on Sunday 2nd April. Last year we had lots of people joining in to support all the runners and particularly parkrunners! We will be there before 10:30, the race starts at 11:00am.

If you are not taking part in the race why not join us to support and cheer on your fellow parkrunners and all the other runners.

We will at the same point as last year on Nettleham Road not far from the BMI Hospital. (From the Cathedral area walk along the footpath passed the BMI and we will setup 'camp' a little way along the road). This is a great spot to be as you will be able to see all the runners twice as they will pass on the first lap, then again in that last leg sapping kilometre to the finish.

Just come along if you can - see you there, it'll be fun!

parkrun cheering point – Lincoln 10k

Support and cheer with parkrun

With so many of our parkrunners competing in the Lincoln 10k race on Sunday 17th April, we want to cheer and encourage them on.  We plan to set up a parkrun cheering point for anyone to join.  Let's show support to all the runners and particularly the parkrun community.

The plan is to gather on Nettleham Road, near the BMI hospital and St Barnabas Hospice, wherever we can establish camp from about 10:30. This location will allow us to see all the runners twice, as they will pass on both laps and it is not far from the finish.

Please come and join us, let's make some noise and help any weary runners to the end.
