Fairytale weather for running today and we had 48 runners (with their entourages) at Little Stoke this morning.
It was Eurovision this weekend and this seems to be turning into a bit of a late night these days. I don't know how many of our runners were allowed to make it to the end of the evening? You all seemed to make it to the end of the course, so maybe it wasn't so many. Well done to everyone who ran - thirteen previous bests met their Waterloo today.
We also had five first-timers enjoying the euphoria of their first parkrun (and a few new visitors). Hopefully the first of many.
Grace and Poppy collected their marathon wristbands, whilst Lily and Adam earned half and full marathon wristbands respectively. We also had a pretty rare opportunity to congratulate Lyra on joining our select band of heroes with over 100 runs to their names. We also thank Lyra (who, despite appearances, is not over age) for the cake!
After last weeks volunteer appeal, filling the roster this week was pretty easy (in fact, it was done by 19.44 on Friday night), which is a massive help. Thank you to everyone who volunteered this week and those who are already signed up for the next couple of weeks. If you're still reading and haven't signed up, you can do so via our facebook page, or by signing up to receive our volunteer e-mails at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/littlestoke-juniors/volunteer/
Thanks also to Sophie for the photos which have allowed our Flickr page to rise like a phoenix. You can see the rest here https://www.flickr.com/groups/littlestoke-junior-parkrun/
Some of the other junior parkruns may be bigger than us, but I still think that the LS summer course is the best one to run when the sun's shining. I look forward to seeing you all again soon!
(PS, in case you were wondering, there are seven Eurovision songs in the text this week...)
