Run report #233 9 June 2019

We're at the start of the music festival season and it's fitting that this weekend we have had behemoth winds, rain, hail (even) and about five hours of sunshine. Fortunately for us, the sun chose Sunday morning to make an appearance.

For the avoidance of doubt, the reference to festivals wasn't a signal that I'm going to litter the run report with the songs of festival headliners - it's getting towards the end of Sunday afternoon as I write, and time is running out for all that nonsense.

So, to the run, we had 40 runners and a great atmosphere this morning. Six running their first parkruns (and we really hope to see you again soon), and a whopping ten personal bests. Well done to everyone who ran, whatever your time!

Regulars to Little Stoke will know that I've been banging on about this being the first time we've tried to run LS junior parkrun at the same time as the Bradley Stoke 10k.  I have to say a massive thank you to everyone who volunteered, including the entire Windett clan, who didn't realise that they were involved until this morning. The funnel became a bit of a child-takeover. Rumours of bedlam are not substantiated. Despite the obvious risk of distraction when we place mobile phones in the hands of our under-14s, they all did an admirable job.

It's worth pointing out that it was a bit of struggle to fill the roster this weekend. If you aren't signed up to receive our e-mail appeals, you can sign up at the 'get involved' section of the website.

Finally, a reminder that there is a football tournament in the park next week, 16 June, so we are not running next week. You can still get your Sunday junior running fix at one of the other local runs, Eastville, Page Park or Kings Weston being the nearest.

See you all soon.
