Runners around the world joined together to celebrate International Women's Day at parkrun. As usual we welcomed all runners to Lochend Woods parkrun. It was good to meet a few parkrun first timers and to celebrate Jamie Thomas reaching his 50th parkrun milestone. Well done Jamie.

Don't forget we have our birthday celebration run coming up on 28 March and we'd love to see you all there. Look out for our new promotional film that we will be launching soon. Maybe you are in it?

A special thank you to those who helped the Dunbar Community Woodland Group with their annual litter pick. The woods are in great shape thanks to their efforts.

Lochend Woods parkrun Event number 44 15th February 2020

Less runners this week and with the threat of Storm Dennis hovering over proceedings it was no wonder folk chose to stay indoors. As it happened the menace known as Dennis never really showed up and runners were able to enjoy the tranquility of the woods. The snowdrops are in full bloom and add to the enjoyment of the run. Last week some of our runners were given a pleasant surprise when 3 deer ran out in front of them. Keep your eyes open for them. They are often seen in the opening to the right of the long straight path through the woods. Snowdrops

It was a milestone run for Jessica and Ben who both reached their 10th parkrun. Congratulations to you and anyone else who reached personal goals today. We welcomed parkrun tourists from Darlington, Cambridge and Durham and several first timers joined the fun today.Pink is the new yellow

We hope you like our new pink hi-viz jackets. If you volunteer you get to wear one all morning. lochendwoodshelpers@parkrun.com

The 43rd Lochend Woods parkrun started off in glorious sunny conditions; not a cloud in the sky but the gusts of wind told us that a storm was brewing. Luckily, the 94 runners and walkers crossed the finish before Storm Ciara crossed the start line.

This was my fourth visit to Lochend Woods and it was the perfect place to celebrate my 100th parkrun. I felt honoured to share the occasion with Murray Peebles, a local runner who completed his 400th parkrun today. Just another six years to go until I can celebrate the same!

22 runners achieved PBs today. Not a bad achievement given the windy conditions. Four completed a parkrun for the first time. First finisher was Fraser Kelly on his second visit to Lochend Woods. Alex Milne achieved the highest age grade score today of 72.37% Well done to all!

Parkrun would not take place without all our amazing volunteers. Big shout out to all of you and thank you very much.

I look forward to visiting Dunbar again soon
