Christmas and New Year Events 2018/19

Here is the list of special events that we have for you over the festive period:

Dec 15th - Foodbank collection - in line with a number of other parkruns we will be holding a collection for our local foodbank - Foodshare Maidenhead Foodbank.

Dec 21st - Winter Solstice Freedom Run at 19:00. Normal route, bring a head/chest torch

Dec 22nd - Pre-Christmas fancy dress run

Dec 25th - extra parkrun starting at 9:00

Dec 29th - our last parkrun of 2018

Jan 1st - extra parkrun, our first of 2019, starting at the earlier time of 8:30 so that you can, if you wish, travel to Woodley, Bracknell, Prospect or Upton Court by 10:30 for your second parkrun of 2019

Looking forward to seeing you all! As always, we need our wonderful volunteers to ensure that we can run all these events safely, so do get in touch if you can help out (nobody needed for the Solstice run as this is an unmarshalled Freedom run)

As you may have already seen, 250 National Lottery funded athletes will be attending a parkrun event between 18 August and 9 September as part of #teamparkrun, an initiative that invites Britain’s top athletes to volunteer as Tail Walkers at parkruns and junior parkruns across the country.

We are very pleased to announce that former Maidenhead Hockey Club player and current England forward Ellie Rayer will be joining us at Braywick this Saturday 18th. August.

Special Events – 20th and 27th May

Events coming up over the next couple of weeks:

As part of the RBWM Fit For Life week, we are running the following events:

20th May - Sports Fancy Dress.
Come dressed as your favourite sports person or wear your favourite team kit. Please feel free to include as many accessories as possible. (No horses, bikes or skis allowed!)

27th May - Even Number Pacer week.
We are looking for volunteers to run at a set pace to help others achieve their time goals. Please email into if you wish to volunteer as a pacer. You will receive a volunteer credit and a run credit for this role.

20th and 27th May - Introduction to parkrun.
We are holding 2 introduction events starting at 09:30 on both weekends. The idea of turning up on a Saturday as a new runner can be daunting for some, especially as our numbers are growing. We are hoping to attract new runners and guide them easily into the wonderful world of parkrun.
The core team will be on hand to talk new runners through every aspect of parkrun and show them exactly what to expect.
We will take them on a guided trip around the course, explain the finish process and be there to answer any questions or concerns.
If you know of anyone who would like to come along, but hasn't quite managed to build up the courage, then please let them know about these sessions.

For further details of other events in the Fit for Life week see RBWM Fit For Life week website.
