The new Colchester Zoo Stampede Half Marathon have given us two place for Maldon Prom parkrunners.

If you would like to be in the draw for one of these places simply place your name in the hat before 8.55am this Saturday if you are attending parkrun.
If you can't make it to The Prom this weekend then email us at firstname.lastname@example.org before 18.00 on Friday this week, 10th August, with the heading 'Colchester Stampede', your email must contain the following information:

All names from both methods will be entered into the draw, only one entry per person. The draw will take place during our run briefing. If you win a place on the day, please see me after the run to provide your Full Name, Date of Birth and Email Address.
We will notify Colchester Stampede of the 2 people for free places after parkrun on Saturday, and they will be in touch with you in due course.
Run Director 11th August
As you probably know, from time to time our local running groups stage a volunteer takeover event. This means that they cover all the volunteer roles and give the rest of you guys a week off.
During discussions with Maldon District Council some time ago, we agreed that a volunteer takeover by the council might be a great way to increase awareness of our event among members of the council who might not have direct contact with parkrun.
So, this Saturday, 25th November, it's happening! Please come along and run as usual and say a big thank you to those working for the organisation that allows us to use their park every week.

You Maldon Prommers are so lucky.....
Your dedicated and fun-loving core team have once again volunteered to host festive events on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Both events will start at the usual 9am. This means that on NY Day you have the option to whizz over to Chelmsford afterwards and run again there, both runs will count towards your next milestone.
On Xmas Day the event will be run on a shoestring. What this means is that there will be no signage and no formal finish funnel. The Run Director will start the event with both stopwatches. Two of the first few finishers will be asked to take over these roles and a few more will be asked to start barcode scanning. We may even ask some of you to create a human finish funnel! As the event progresses it would be good if others could take over these roles in case some of the faster ones need to leave early. Clearly this could result in chaos (!) but it worked for our first ever Xmas Day event and I'm confident you guys will pull out all the stops to make it work again.
We will still need 2 marshals to cover the entrance roads as the park will be open as usual however these are great roles to support family so if you have non-running people coming with you please ask if they will be happy to do this. All they need to do is warn drivers of the risk to runners and ask them to be extra careful.....and shout lots of encouragement of course!
Please be willing to help out after your run, even just scanning for 10 minutes. Ideally we need people who have done the roles of time-keeping and scanning frequently so no training will be required. You'll need to bring warm clothing, how about your new Christmas jumper Here's a reminder of last year's event...
