Another Saturday, another parkrun

I have the pleasure of writing the run report for 6 July 19. Those who know me will be aware that I suffered a bad ankle injury in January 18 and after an operation I am back on the road to recovery. This run was my 63rd - not bad considering my long lay off. Andrew Wool did extremely well getting everyone's attention with his head master voice, as run director for the day. There were several milestones, 9 year old Maisie reached a landmark 100 - a fantastic achievement and Pat Norris achieved her ton for volunteering, and has been a stalwart for the organisers of March parkrun. Both received a loud round of applause and quite rightly so. Tourists came from as far as Colchester with Huntingdon also getting a mention.

In total, there were 184 runners, who thought that they were in for a cool weathered run but when that sun came through the Ambre Solaire needed to be splashed all over, due to the strong sun rays. Good to see members of the Monday Night Running Group there and Teilo's Couch 2 5K posse there in force. It was a fast run with 39 (THIRTY NINE) PBs on the day. At the front of the field, Louis B came in first place, seeing off a late challenge near the finishing line. A best time for Louis for 10 months. Other notable runners include Amy Mitchell, first lady, who came in with a PB and well ahead of new hubby Rob, almost beating his PB. Andrew Fovargue, also put in a great performance with a new PB.

A big thank you to all the Marshalls and Run Director for a very smooth run.

This week 184 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 24 were first timers and 39 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 14 different clubs took part.
