At 7am as I sat and ate my breakfast mist rolled in and I thought we might lose the marshal or two at parkrun however by the time I arrived at the park to assist Run Director Nicola and her able assistant Andrew to finish setting the park up for the run the sun was burning off the mist and we knew we were in for a warm morning.
Just before the start Nicola welcomed all to March parkrun including the 10 people trying out parkrun for the first time. Visitors from Poole, Leeds, King’s Lynn and nearby Thorney joined the March regulars.
Before the start we wished Gena AKA the Token Queen a happy birthday.
Despite the very warm weather there were 19 people who did personal bests including the first person home, local runner, Louis Fairfax. Second home was tourist Jason Mumford from Poole with March parkrun regular Roger Hannam in third. First lady finisher was March AC runner Melissa Neal who I was surprised to note was running her first March parkrun, second lady was Geraldine Larham, who is recovering after a foot injury, and third lady was March regular Agata Chelchowska, not pushing a buggy for a change.
Once again the March parkrun team thank all the people who volunteer as without you there would not be a parkrun. If you fancy seeing parkrun from the volunteering angle just drop us a line or come and have a chat with one of those in the Hi-viz.
This week 160 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 17 were first timers and 22 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.
