March parkrun #198 – Muddy run

Parkrun 198 was a cold one although this didn’t put off 121 runners including two first timers and five tourists. While the cold chill was to be expected given its December the temperature didn’t get above 4 degrees. For the committed volunteers there was some envy watching runners go by knowing that they were getting warmer lap after lap from running. First shout out in this report goes to the hardy volunteers who often forego their own run to help it happen for others. Sydney Davis earns a shout out for volunteering for the 25th time and earns the awesome purple volunteering milestone T Shirt and a big thank you.

The course was a little muddy in parts although four PBs were achieved from those participating. There was some great running from juniors too who were notably flying in through the finish tunnel. Regular March runner Louis Beningfeild led the field throughout and came in first male with a time of 20:23. Hot on his heals and 6 seconds behind was Tim Fitches who took 2nd place followed by Liam Lambert who was 12 seconds behind and was third in. The first female was Kate Green who was a tourist at March and took the course on in style at 20:45 and forth overall up there with the lead three. Regulars Karina O’Neil and Immy Pembury were 2nd and 3rd females with times of 22:02 and 23:30 respectively. Shout outs to Philip Beldom on his 50th Parkrun and Graeme Dedman on his 100th Parkrun. Fun fact - five runners today have run over 200 parkruns.
This week 121 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 7 were first timers and 4 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 16 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 22 volunteers:
