March parkrun #196 – 7th December and all’s muddy.

The 196th parkrun at March is brought to you, in part, by Fenland District Council. Saturday morning, or as it’s known in certain circles, parkrun day, dawned, and the parkrun family consisting of old friends and new, gathered in the amphitheatre of Westend Park to enjoy some well supervised exercise, whether it be to run, walk, or just generally have some fun.

A damp and soaky course was the result of much rain over the last few days, but despite all that and the continuing work on the skate park, we still had a decent turn-out on a typical autumnal morning. Proceedings began with the important and must be listened to briefing. On several occasions we had to call for quiet this morning. Can we please emphasize that during the briefing we ask you to remain silent whilst the brief is delivered, we don’t do this for fun, we do it for your safety, so respect the briefing and stay quiet. If you’re chatting through it, then it’s unfair to your fellow runners and information can be missed as was today by several runners who either didn’t attend the NRB or were too busy chatting during the brief. Some of our RD’s don’t have the loudest voices and amplification can muffle voices, hence why we don’t have one, so please stay quiet just for five minutes of your time while this is delivered.

Vic Jeeves achieved a 100 volunteer occasions , but apart from that no milestones, birthdays or tourists. However , we can include everyone in our meritorious dispatches section that turn up to run and volunteer regardless of the weather. We welcomed our fellow local runners from Bodymode, Ely, Fenland, Ramsey and Three Counties. The core team also wish to give a huge thank you to all the volunteers, without whom, park run could not happen every week. If you wish to volunteer, please see the March parkrun volunteers Facebook page or email marchhelpers@parkrun.com.

This weeks brave and fluffy and splendid hi-viz heroes were :-

Jackie BULL, Kevin BULL, Alexa CONROY, James CONROY, Mark DARLOW, Carole DAVIS, Justin ELVIDGE, Raymond FEW, Nicola FUNNELL, Wendy HART, Georgina JACKMAN, Victor JEEVES, Vanessa MURRAY, Debbie PERRY, Mark SALMONS, Dawn VEAL, Debra WATTS, Anthony WHIBLEY, Samantha WOOL, Maria WRIGHT

March parkrun #189. Greyhound bound for Nowhere.

The 189th parkrun at March is brought to you, in part, by Fenland District Council. Saturday morning, or as it’s known in certain circles, parkrun day, dawned, and the parkrun family consisting of old friends and new, gathered in the amphitheatre of Westend Park to enjoy some well supervised exercise, whether it be to run, walk, or just generally have some fun.

Despite there still being a minor disturbance with some building work on the skate park, the course still wound around it merrily without any kind of kerfuffle and was still enjoyed by an excellent turn-out on a warm day that had a relaxed and groovy feel to it. Our run director Stephen began proceedings with the important and must be listened to briefing. Once again I had to be that person to call for quiet. Can we please remind you of the following, respect the briefing and stay quiet. We don’t do this for fun, it is for your safety and there are currently newcomers that may not have heard it before. If you’re chatting through it, then it’s unfair to your fellow runners.
