The parkrun Gods were shining on us today as we were treated to a glorious Spring morning. The course, in perfect condition, yielded a massive 60 personal bests including first finisher Michael Cooke who shaved 4 seconds off his previous best time from 4 years ago with 16:18.
We also greeted Marple Runners' Pub2parkrun group graduating and running their very first 5k. So, a big congratulations to Alan, Angela, Debbie, Janelle, Katie, Laura, Tracey and Siobhan. We look forward to seeing you back again soon. Clare Smith and her team of coaches have done a great job encouraging you all.
We had other causes to celebrate. Ian Bowker was taking part in his 100th parkrun, running 94 of them here.
And for Simon Rushton, it was his 250th parkrun which he celebrated in style with a Personal Best at his 166th Marple parkrun which is good going.
Thanks to all the celebrations, we had lots of cake and treats afterwards and many stayed on celebrating finishers.
As well at lots of regulars, 45 first timers and quite a few coming back to us, we had tourists from Caerphilly to Cape Town, so a warm welcome to each and every one of you.
Of course, we recognise volunteering is as important to people as running or walking and for that we thank all our volunteers. You cannot underestimate the benefits that volunteering brings in terms of social interaction and mental wellbeing. If you would like to volunteer next week or at anytime please drop us an email at email@example.com
We hope to see you all again next week as we start another fantastic year at Marple parkrun.
