* Run Director wanted*

Dear Mulbarton parkrun supporters, you’ll see we have a number of gaps in the forthcoming roster at all levels. As well as appealing for regular volunteers, we’re also keen to recruit a new Run Director to join the Mulbarton parkrun core team. Whilst a Run Director has a greater role than a regular volunteer, don’t be put off - you’ll be given full training and will have the support of Alan and myself as Event Directors, as well as the support of the full Mulbarton team.

It’s honestly not an onerous commitment, but another Run Director would really make a difference to help cover holidays and illness etc. If you’d like to find out a bit more about what is involved, you can contact us direct (mulbartonhelpers@parkrun.com) or have a chat with any of the Run Directors next time you do a parkrun with us, and we can tell you a bit more about what we do.

Look forward to hearing from you

Jane (Co Event Director)

Norwich parkruns encourage rainbow runners to help celebrate Norwich Pride

Hundreds of runners in and around Norwich will create a rainbow this weekend to help celebrate Norwich Pride.

Six parkruns - Brundall, Catton, Colney, Lingwood, Mulbarton and Sloughbottom - have joined together in inviting people to run, jog or walk their 5km courses in rainbow colours in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

The message is clear: everybody is welcome at parkrun and this weekend, the more colourful the better. The ethos of parkrun is very much about inclusion and we welcome everyone to walk, jog or run 5km with us every Saturday morning.

There is no such thing as “too slow” and nobody finishes last because that’s the job of the tail walker - a friendly volunteer who makes sure everybody gets round safely.

New people are always welcome at parkrun - maybe this weekend will be an opportunity for people who have never taken part before to give it a go.

All you need to do is register online with parkrun - https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ - print out your personal barcode and bring it with you when you arrive at your chosen park by 8.45am, in time for the pre-run briefing.

Runners are  notorious for having brightly coloured clothing which lends itself to creating a ‘running rainbow’ and runners are invited to wear any bright rainbow colour on Saturday 27th July to join in the celebration for the LGBTQ+ community in Norwich

And finally, we are in need of a couple more volunteers for this Saturday so please do get in touch if you can help out as a timekeeper or barcode scanner.

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday

Jane (CoED)
