I love running - well I did pre injury lol, and I love marathons, so unsurprisingly I find myself completing this weeks Run Report whilst the Virgin London Marathon is on in the background, with the handy app next to me following parkrunners and running friends from all over the world. Quite emotional event for me, and no doubt will be for thousands that are running for their own personal reasons.
Good luck to you all - its a satisfying challenge for some, life changing for others
Its also giving me a chance to reflect on yesterday - what a difference a week makes. I cant recall in our 18 months worse weather other from our inaugural event!
We left Laxey for set-up in the dry, it was light drizzle during the start of set up, then come the start how the winds picked up.
No sun - no pictures Im afraid
There may need to be a week off from 'Smiler of the Week' this week lol
How amazing to see, once again, an ever increasing number of visitors and first timers alike.
And how funny to meet our parkrun tourists from St Helens meet up with fellow runners from the UK that they weren't expecting to see...…..that's why we do what we do.
Especially this week in those conditions, a massive thankyou goes out to all our marshalls and volunteers - absolutely hard core, you give up your time FOC only to be soaked to the skin - heroic.
As ever we ask for your time each week, good news.....in two weeks time we will be at Conrhenny for the duration of TT (5 weeks in total). This does mean we will require slightly less marshals, but increase the number of opportunities to run and gain volunteer credit.
So lets make our 'temporary' farewell to Nobles next week a big one, its 'Star Wars Day', so let the force be with you and go for that PB, or move closer to that next milestone t-shirt.....can we get to triple figures again?
Keep going marathon runners.....see you next week with your medal bling please
Have a good one
