Nobles parkrun Event #115 – 22nd February 2020

The ability to write these Run Reports is always helped by the basic need to feel your hands - something our brave marshals struggled with yesterday - boy it was 'fresh'. But once again you brave soles turned up in your numbers to make it well worthwhile - yet again.

And boy didn't our marshals look good in our new 'pink' hi vis vests - perfectly matching the ice blue skin tones lol, imagine having bitterly cold fingers and responsible for clicking the stopwatch, handing out tokens etc - grateful to all.

And wow what a milestone we hit this week, our 10,000th finisher crossed the line this weekend. And that was finisher 145 on the day, Sally Russell on her 5th event. Well done Sally, a voucher from Up and Running is ready for collection from us at your next event.

And a big milestone that we missed - and how could we?! This weeks tailwalker, and Nobles regular, Jonathan Watterson, reached his amazing '250' milestone - that's amazing. I am unsure how many were accompanied by the very cute Snoopy...…..but well done both.

A huge shout out goes to Connor Kermode, he completed his first ever parkrun / 5k this week, amazing, especially seeing he hadn't even run six weeks ago. He completed this challenge alongside his Dad Brian in a brilliant 46 minutes - well done Connor.

We had a high percentage of new volunteers this week, all ensuring another safe event. If you fancy assisting with a volunteering stint once in a while, please adjust your parkrun profile to accept emails from Nobles, and check out the roster and facebook updates weekly

This week we even had standbys - thankyou to Becky Watterson who remained on standby until just before the start, who then ran and finished as first lady - wow, commitment indeed.

We have some exciting events in the next couple of weeks;
- Pacer Week
- International Womens Day
- Easter Running Festival Weekend
We have approx' eight Pacer volunteers ready to assist you to a new PB, but still require volunteers for normal roles.
IWD is a parkrun initiative to have every event run by women, so ladies, please get in contact with Run Director, Ali Kirby, if you are able to help - remember PURPLE is the colour of the day, and we hope to be supporting local Manx charities on the day.
Although not our event, the Easter Festival has attracted large numbers to our event that weekend, so if you are free to volunteer we would be grateful - we anticipate numbers in excess of 200.

From time to time we like to keep you informed of behind the scenes items, not just the core running activity.
How many are aware what an AED is? As part of the global parkrun philosophy, they try to ensure an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is present at as many events as possible. At Nobles we are lucky, as we have two within the area - they form a vital part of our risk assessment and add another level incase of emergency. But where are they? One is located behind the main grandstand, whilst the second is by the toilet area behind the Pavilion. These benefit us hugely and support our marshals and runners each week.

Well, enjoy your weekend, and see you at 'Pacer Week'
