Evening everyone, I hope this finds you all safe and well.
Wow what a weekend!
How strange was your Saturday?
I don't say that lightly either, as I know some of you are part way through your self isolation fortnight. Its great to read your social media posts to see how everyone is coming together to support those in need - no surprise to most, as that's just what we do.
In case of worry or concern please be comforted that scanners, stopwatches and tokens are all safe in isolation and away from harm - for how long!!!!!!!!!!
Our equipment store at the Grandstand is in full isolation thanks to the site being turned into a testing area.
We woke on Saturday with more than an empty feeling, but quickly lifted by seeing your kind words and pictures that you posted on the page. Please keep posting your comments and what you are up to - parkrun is about community, and despite a temporary halt to Saturdays our community remains forever strong. Our posts will ensure everyone can chat and keep spirits high, whilst ensuring those who need a little help can easily ask - we are stronger together.
We will keep posting on a weekly basis, and will replace 'Smiler of the Week' with 'Memory of the Week', a little flashback to any of the last 100 plus events - so keep your eyes peeled.
It is unlikely that we return in time for the next 'Pacers' event, so, we will commit to ensuring that our first returning Saturday will be a pacers event - we expect to see you all!
Finally, cancellation ultimately was the decision of parkrun UK, however, we fully support that decision for the safety of all our runners and volunteers - aged from 4 (officially) upto the impressive 80's - we take your safety seriously.
So for now - isolate socially (!) if you have to, distance socially (!) all the time whilst we can. We miss you, we love you all.....and we ain't going anywhere.
Keep the faith and see you soon - all 2000+ of you
No one ran
No PBs were achieved
No one volunteered
No one was bloody chuffed about the above!
