Thank you to Karl for his report about his first visit to Nonsuch.....
Home parkrun - Pontypridd
It’s July - and after record breaking temperatures across the whole of the United Kingdom, at 0830am in Tolworth it was raining.... typical.
So the first big decision of the day was where to parkrun? Whom am I trying to kid, that decision had long been made when booking this little jaunt from South Wales.....
With that opportunity of another unique location (having already arranged a visit to Bushy - the home of all things parkrun in November) your beautiful parkrun at Nonsuch was the only logical choice.
Having arrived in the car park off the London Road the heavens really opened, panicking if I had to pay for parking, I approached what looked like a fellow attendee..... so happened to be a Nonsuch parkrunner. Lovely little chat on the walk up to the start area feet already soaking from the sodden grass.
Lovely facilities and setting in Nonsuch Park, and a few strategically located trees for shelter. Honoured to be able to write the run report after speaking to your lovely Run Director. And a massive thank you to all the volunteers for standing in the rain to allow all 400 attendees complete their weekly 5k parkrun. Funny, one of your lovely volunteers (lady) had links to my home parkrun and the location of my running club in Ogmore Vale!
Really loved the “summer” route - although on times it felt like I was auditioning for strictly come dancing the amount of slipping and sliding.... and on times taking part in a swimming gala - route one straight through all the puddles. Great mix of gravel paths, grass and mud - felt very cross county in parts. Really enjoyed - even with the shoe misfunction..
This week 400 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 24 were first timers and 42 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 38 different clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 66 volunteers:

Couldn’t believe how many volunteers there was, then I remembered it was pacer week
In summary, a wet yet wonderful parkrun experience. Smoothly executed by your amazing team. Easy parking and great facilities. Thank you for the kind welcome and enjoy your anniversary in a few weeks time (21st September I believe)
