Peacehaven parkrun Event #24

So we were expecting a spectacular downpour this morning but were saved and thankfully just had a bit of a cold wind and some drizzle.

We welcomed the wonderful Seaford Striders once more and this time they brought their new couch to 5k group with them to complete our course for the first time. Was great to see you all, you should all be very proud of your progress and achievement, well done each and every one of you and we would love to welcome you back soon!

It was especially wonderful to see everyone waiting around after completing their own run to clap cheer and congratulate the rest of the runners across the finish line, the sound and feeling was just amazing and just what we wanted to achieve when we set up parkrun in
Peacehaven!!

Last week I made an announcement congratulating Sarah Alderson for the being the only person to attend every single run here at Peacehaven since our inaugural back in May. Today I found out that Sarah and her partner will sadly be leaving the area and so today was her last run at Peacehaven...we wish you and your partner all the best in your new chapter Sarah and thank you for supporting us the way you have done...

So today was pacer day...the first we have held like this since starting up in May...it was a great success. We had lots of people offering to pace and plenty of requests from runners for specific times. 18 PB's were recorded today so we hope those yellow bibbed pacers were a help in achieving those PB's!!

Well done to Steve and Lisa Dickson, husband and wife who are regular volunteers with us and both achieved a PB today...you can usually spot Steve tail walking with the big smile on his face and Lisa likes to try her hand at various roles...watch out for her doing the new runners briefing next week! Well done you two!

We have decided that we will hold a pacer day once a month, on the first Saturday. So watch this space for pacer requests and let us know what times you are looking to achieve  on Saturday 2nd December!

114 people walked, jogged and ran our picturesque green and albeit a little bit damp, course. We had an incredible 30 first timers and that big puddle on the corner didn't deter many of you who took it on and went straight through it!!

24 fantastic volunteers joined us this morning to make your run possible...they are all amazing, invaluable and make Peacehaven parkrun just what it is. We thank you all and as always welcome new volunteers all the time!

You will notice we have been playing around with the funnel and finish area the last couple of weeks....bear with us while we tweak it and make it the best we can for all you wonderful runners, there are always improvements and ideas we are having to keep Peacehaven parkrun as brilliant as it is!

Our lovely token sorter today identified that finish tokens numbered 44, 70 and 104 are missing...if you accidentally took one of these home with you, can you pop it back to us next week please? Thank you!!

Thats all for this week guys...once again thanks for the support and we look forward to seeing you all again next week....same time, same place, don't forget your barcode!!

Kindest regards
