Pegwell Bay parkrun # 286 - 17/11/2018

Pegwell Bay parkrun

Event number 286
17th November 2018

It was a simply breathtaking view of Pegwell Bay from the chalk mound this morning in bright sunshine reflecting off the water as the clouds of birds took flight out to sea. The air was fresh and the Children in Need cake stall was doing a great trade both pre and post-parkrun. The Run Director gave a rousing speech to get everyone in the mood for their run – there were numerous mentions of "bollards" and spirited rounds of applause for our sole milestone this week (Jenny BAKER) as well as the volunteers who make parkrun possible every week.

We had some parkrun tourists - welcome to you all, from as far away as the other side of Kent & even further away from Birkenhead - we hope you enjoyed our beautiful sunny coastal parkrun at Pegwell Bay... tell your friends all about us!

This week 154 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 22 were first timers (10 of whom were very first time parkrunners!) and 32 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 12 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 21 volunteers - without your help parkrun could not go ahead each week - thank you all very much! Remember if you can give up some time to volunteer it really does make a big difference – if everyone who runs could do 3 volunteering jobs a year it would most likely cover every position every week, so do give it some thought and don the stylish and flattering Hi-Vis if you can. Our Hi-Vis heroes today were: Ade NEAVES, Adrian SMITH, Anthony RAKE, Chris CARTER, Chris WHYSALL, Ciaran DOYLE, Harvey STEWART, Jayne Anne KILVINGTON, Joanne HOLL, Jonathan HOLL, Lorna MUNDAY, Lucy CARTER, Matthew BOUCHER, Peter W, Rachel PURTON, Rebecca CARTER, Sarah NEWLANDS, Shelley ROWE, Stephen FORSHAW, Tina PENDLEBERY, Wendy WHYSALL
