Event 239 – The International one

With the Rugby World Cup starting this weekend, I suppose it was quite apt that there was an international flavour to today's event, with visitors from Ireland, South Africa and Australia as well as Newcastle, Aberystwyth, Stoke, Rippon and Cambridge to mention a few! Unlike the Rugby, I am glad to say that nobody got sent home early though for misdemeanours although a few had forgotten their barcodes!!!!!  Great to see a large contingent from Breast Cancer Awareness too - great to have you all with us!

Conditions were perfect to visit the castle with the bright sunshine and gentle breeze making it making it a bit on the warm side to run in. However 192 runners ( plus a very fast buggy and a few dogs! )made it around the 2 big loops and 2 small loops.

The only Major Milestone achieved today was achieved by Chris Roberts (50th) but happy birthday to Malcolm Roberts who is 60 later this week. Most experienced runner this week was Penrhyn Legend, Dennis Smith with 216. At the opposite end of the range, there were 38 first timers to Penrhyn or Parkrun and 25 people recorded PBs - congratulations! 18 different running clubs were represented today

Congratulations to Raif Serrif, the fastest male today in 16.52 (also fastest Junior with JM15-17) and fastest lady was Lucy Williamson in 19.35.

As the RD this week, I am going to say  a massive thank you to all the volunteers this week, as without them, we would not be able to run this event! It is also great to hear parkrunners thanking the volunteers as they run past. I'm back as RD next week with the mini-marshall who is desperate to get a new milestone t shirt (25 for volunteers!)
