A total of 354 people completed the Penrith Parkrun course at Frenchfield last Saturday of whom 44 were first timers, no doubt bolstered by those fulfilling New Year Resolutions to get fit. All of this was made possible by 27 stalwart volunteers. Along with the usual contingent from Eden Runners, representatives of some 30 different clubs took part. There were 38 Personal Bests recorded on the day.
First across the line was Jonathon Cox (SM25-29) of Eden Runners in 17.25, followed by Harry Lancaster (SM20-24) of Lancaster University RAC in 17.33. In third place was Steven Asquith (VM35-39) of Gateshead Harriers & AC, a Penrith Parkrun first timer, in 17.52.
The first female across the line was Victoria Lawson (VW35-39) of Eden Valley Tri with a new Personal Best of 21.27 in only her sixth Parkrun. She was followed home by Karen Bridge (VW50-54) in 21.43 and Francesca Lee (SW20-24) in 21.53.
Leading the Juniors (JM10) home in 34 position overall was Ptolomey Evans who recorded a Personal Best of 21.37.
It was also a day of records with Craig Bottomley, Tim Openshaw and Alison Rowsell, all Penrith Parkrun regulars, completing 150 Parkruns. They were joined by Annette Clarke of Daventry Road Runners, a first timer at Penrith. Mike Allison, Debbie Thompson and Becky Willoughby completing 100 Parkruns and Kathryn Braithwaite 50.
As always we can only hold these events with help from our volunteers, if you would like to join the high viz hero’s on one or more day just let us know at email@example.com.
