On Saturday 23rd February, Peterborough parkrun was supported by volunteers from Girlguiding.
This was part of our World Thinking Day celebrations where we are encouraged to think about guiding across the world and to do something good for our local community.
parkrun and Girlguiding are both voluntary organisations that create positive, nurturing environments which allow everyone to challenge themselves to achieve their personal best. The sense of community is clear in both organisations.
A big thank you to all the runners, joggers and walkers who gave the Brownies a High Five. I think they got one from most of the 559 parkrunners! They had a great time as did our adult leaders, many had never taken part in parkrun before, but they all loved it and will be back, some as runners, most as volunteers.
Well done to all the 44 first time finishers and congratulations to fastest male, Scott Meadows (17:14) and fastest female, Kayleigh Draper (20:09).
A special mention for the following milestones from Peterborough parkrun #297
10 Club - juniors (aged 17 and under)
Olivia MARDON - New PB!
Sarah JEX - New PB!
100 Club (and an extra special thank you for the over 250 times you have volunteered!)
Congratulations also to Roslyn LOUTIT, who set a new age category record in the VW55-59 group at Peterborough with 21:27 (Age grading 83.29%).
Thank you to everyone at Peterborough parkrun for making Girlguiding feel welcome. We all had a great morning with you.
Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. We are in need of more volunteers in the Peterborough area and there are lots of ways you can get involved. Volunteering with Girlguiding is flexible and fun, if you would like to know more please check out our website.
