Peter Pan junior parkrun is cancelled on 2021-05-09 – COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

The return of junior parkrun

You may have recently received an email from parkrun which delivered the uplifting news that junior parkrun will be returning in certain areas of the UK from this Sunday onwards.

We just wanted to clarify again that Peter Pan junior parkrun is unable to return at the present time, although of course we wish that we could see you all in Peter Pan park on Sunday!

We will continue to keep you updated on when we can return!

Event 140, 16/03/20

In terms of the weather, we thought we had escaped the band of rain that passed through early Sunday morning. But lo and behold, just as we were setting off on Event 140, the wind got up and we enjoyed some light rain.  That didn't put off 51 hardy kids and their families who charged round with their usual enthusiasm!

We had another 5 first timers with us on Sunday, and it was great to welcome FRANCESCA WALKER, ELLA BURGESS, FLORENCE PROCTOR, CHARLOTTE VOWLER and OLIVIA VOWLER, it was great to meet you all and hope you will come again!

Our children were very well looked after by a marvellous 19 volunteers this week, and they were:

Alex ROBERTS  •  Alice LANGRICK  •  Alison EDEY  •  Catherine KELSEY  •  Clare LANGRICK  •  Craig LEAMING  •  Daniela DEIGHTON  •  Dave WISE  •  David GOLDSMITH  •  David HILL  •  Jacob DEARING  •  Karen TOWNER  •  Katie WILKIN  •  Lucy WALKER  •  Mark WILKIN  •  Paul MARTINDALE  •  Paul TREMERE  •  Simon KELSEY  •  Tom JORNA

A huge thanks to you all, we couldn't do it without you!

We awarded one Half Marathon wristband this week, and that was awarded to SZE HAN TAN, a big well done to you and don't forget to download your certificate!

Despite the conditions, there were a massive 15 new PBs recorded on Sunday, the kids obviously like running in light rain and wind!  PBs were achieved by:

We hope to see you soon!

Event 139, 08/03/2020

The weather decided to be really kind to us this week.  The sun shined down on our 66 eager junior park runners, it looks like spring is finally on its way.  Once again, our warm-up was enthusiastically led by Steve Dixon and we have some wonderful photographs of you running around the park, courtesy of Darryl Brooks.

The following children joined us for the first time:  Jacob Monk, Scarlett Monk and William Woodhouse.  We hope you enjoyed your morning with us and look forward to see you again soon.

We also had 8 children running their fastest ever times gaining new personal bests. These speedy children were:   Harvey Longthorp, Haris Balouch, Anna Pettifer, Buddy Harmen, Holly Dearing, Pippa Byron, Lottie Roberts and Amelie Dewhurst.  Well Done!

Event 137, 24/02/20

It was good to be back on Sunday after 2 Sundays without a junior parkrun at Peter Pan park.  It was clearly evident that the storms had been through recently and with more recent rain, it was a bit boggy in the finish funnel.  We are very thankful that our route is almost entirely on tarmac paths!!

We shared the event with another 3 first timers who were POPPY PULLAN, JENSON MARSHALL and ABIGAIL YOUNGSON.  We hope that you felt welcome at our event and that you enjoyed it as much as we did!

We also had plenty of volunteers at our event this week, with some new people helping us out who may be starting their own event in coming weeks.  Our 19 volunteers this week were:

Alison EDEY  •  Allie ADDEY  •  Amy BARTON  •  Angela DRINKALL  •  Carolyn BARTON  •  Clare LANGRICK  •  Daniel BATTY  •  Dave WISE  •  David GOLDSMITH  •  Katie WILKIN  •  Konstantin LONG  •  Laura BARTON  •  Liz GRAY  •  Mark WILKIN  •  Matt EDEY  •  Siobhan BALL  •  Stephen GRAHAM  •  Steve DIXON  •  Sue GREEN

Well done to you both!  Awesome work!
