Phoenix parkrun #27: Saturday 29th July 2017
Thank you to everyone who was involved in any way at our 27th parkrun yesterday.
It is extremely noteworthy that Louise McAdam, became Phoenix parkrun’s first ever volunteer to support our first visually impaired participant, Alan Sartorius-Jones, around our course. It was also Alan’s very first parkrun which he enjoyed, informing us that he wanted to get used to and to become aware of the course obstacles on his first attempt. Alan promises us that he will return to Phoenix parkrun again.
Welcome also to Iain Bethune who has recently moved to the area for work reasons and undertook his very first parkrun yesterday. Previously, he did not have a parkrun within easy reach and now welcomes the idea of making Phoenix his home parkrun.
A special mention definitely must go to Jo Wakefield, who has now completed eight Phoenix parkruns and each time she has returned, she has improved on her time, therefore has an unbroken series of seven course personal bests.
Additionally, a special mention equally must go to Roger Alsop, who back in May made his first appearance at Phoenix parkrun and with a time of 18:21, set the 50+ age category course record. Yesterday, Roger returned for a second time and beat his own record by a further 6 seconds.
