Pomphrey Hill parkrun
Event number 276
29th June 2019
On a beautiful morning when temperatures were set to soar I nervously set out for Pomphrey Hill. I’ve been a member of the Pomphrey Hill parkrun community for some time now but this was my first time as co-Run Director (under Ris’s watchful eye). So I was particularly grateful that 30 wonderful people braved the heat and gave up their Saturday morning to join me and volunteer at parkrun:
Johnny SUTTLE • Adrian GRIMSHAW • Steven GRANT • Tiernan GRIMSHAW • Jackie THORNE • Catalina LEE • Anna THOMAS • Sarah MCNAMARA • Victoria BURCHILL • Rose BURCHILL • Andrew BOYNTON • Ris SCOTT • Carolyn DONOGHUE • Trudy REED • Stephanie FREEMAN • Jane GREY • Sam COSSEY • William LEE • Gayle WOOD • Helen DAVIS • Martyn POOLE • Nikky COX • Lucy SWARBRICK • Sam WELLS • Kerri VAUGHAN • Kevin RICKERBY • Mike DONOGHUE • Edward GRAHAM • Isabella VAUGHAN • Neil HARRISON
A very special mention goes to Neil Harrison and Isabella Vaughan (who looked particularly fabulous in a red cape and hi-vis) who volunteered for the first time.
Congratulations to Jackie Thorne who completed her 25th volunteer stint. Fantastic work Jackie!
If you haven't volunteered before and are worried about what it may involve then please look here. Our Future Roster for Volunteering vacancies can be found here. Please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org if you are able to help. It is great to see new faces and we will make sure you feel fully supported in whatever role you might choose.
Barking Party 13th July
If anyone would like to volunteer before their parkrun (it’s an excellent way to warm up the muscles and get a volunteer credit) then we would appreciate help to lay a new layer of bark on the hill. Anyone who can spare some time to join us on the Saturday 13th July from 8am would be very welcome (please bring a wheel barrow and/or spade)
It was great to be joined by a group of couch to 5k graduates. What a superb effort by each everyone to complete our slightly hilly parkrun on one of the hottest days of the year. Hearing people say they “never thought they would run 5k” as they crossed the line was a highlight of the morning and is an inspiration to anyone who thinks that running is not for them. Please visit us again (when hopefully it will be a little cooler)
We also had a number of runners hitting milestones this week. Congratulations to Roger Hemming and Nicky Cox on completing their 50th run and to Robert Lovell, Stephen Burfitt, David Sutton and Andrew King on their 100th run. Very well done to Michael Smith who completed his 250th run.
Also welcome to all our visitors and 20 first timer parkrunners , I hope the hill in the heat didn’t put you off. We hope to see you again. Congratulations to all those achieving a PB - well done!
See you all next parkrun day
