Event #1

Welcome to Poolsbrook parkrun.

A huge thank you to all 195 runners and 20 volunteers today who made Poolsbrook parkrun's debut absolutely amazing!

On behalf of all of us at Poolsbrook who ran, volunteered and spectated, we would like to thank Chesterfield Borough Council for their support and for allowing us to use this beautiful country park!

Despite the rain, the wind and the overall grim English weather, it would be fair to say, Poolsbrook parkrun was extremely successful. A massive thank you Charlotte Lange and Mark Hazlehurst, the co-event directors, who have put in a tremendous effort to get our new parkrun up and running. Their work bought us to Poolsbrook this morning, runners and volunteers alike. A big thank you also goes out to Kevin Bowen, parkrun representative for Derbyshire and our mentor who helped direct our efforts to create this parkrun.

First across the line today, with a great course record setting run - Gareth E Lowe in 16:20.

First Lady was Lauren Davies-Beckett with a very impressive time this will surely take some beating.

Congratulations to all four under 10's: Alex Ellis, Leo Senior, Travis Senior and Max Allen-Paver.

Also, a mention to all 29 parkrun first first timers, we hope to see you all next week!

Some of our runners commented on the resident spectators who happened to have a large beak and white feathers. However, looking through all the running clubs present today... Maybe you attracted them with your feathery themed running clubs?

The first bird home was the Peacock Firm. Second to the nest was the Killamarsh Kestrals. Third to roost was Wooton Road Runners (tenuous link). The fourth to migrate to the finish was the Rother Valley Swallows. Finally, but still eagerly the Ealing Eagles flew over the finish line. Now... Who's up to be part of the Poolsbrook penguins?

Many thanks to this weeks group of volunteers, without whom this event could not have taken place: Andy MORRIS  •  Cherry HAZLEHURST  •  Chris JUBB  •  Dan WILKINSON  •  Gail MOSS  •  Gillian JUBB  •  Ginny DOXEY  •  H Clare WEBSTER  •  Jean BAKER  •  Jill LANGLEY  •  Kevin BOWEN  •  Lottie LANGE  •  Mark HAZLEHURST  •  Mark WEBSTER  •  Roger WALTERS  •  Sally SHUTTLEWORTH  •  Samuel WHITE  •  Timothy FELLOWS  •  Wendy COTTERILL
