I had been keeping a close eye on the weather forecast all week - initially not so much for parkrun, more to see how much sunshine I could take advantage of - but after a few days where the only certainty in the forecast were the ominous words 'heavy rain' for Saturday morning I had all but resigned myself to a wet parkrun. That said, on the Friday night I received a message from the Edinburgh parkrun ED of a beautiful red sky and the sun setting over Marchmont. 'We might be in luck' the message said, or something to that effect. Well, for all 80 hardy runners and 15 AMAZING volunteers it was not a lucky morning at all! I can honestly say, of the 111 parkruns I have attended as both a volunteer and a runner, I have NEVER seen rain like it. That said, everyone still had a smile on their face and that's the parkrun magic. The parkrun weather gods stopped the rain long enough for us to have a dry start which was welcome relief too. As for the 26 runners who managed personal bests - well done!
Thank you to all of our volunteers this week, the conditions were awful and you still showed up: Christine MARCH • Ciara WEBB • Eleanor MACKENZIE • Emma LOUGHEED • Etta WATTERS • Fiona ANDERSON • Kata TAR • Kirsty MCGEOUGH • Les MCINTOSH • Michael Stewart FULLERTON • Michelle MCDONALD • Richard MUDIE • Sandy MACDONALD • Shona Susanne MACDONALD • Steven LAVERTY. It is true that without volunteers parkrun just doesn't happen. Please get in touch via email@example.com to take your turn to make the magic happen. You can view the future roster here.
Congratulations to Kenny Campbell who completed his 100th parkrun and Oliver Feria-Yates who joined the junior 10 Club. You will both get emails about your new Milestone tshirts in the foreseeable future. Wear them with pride!
