Well, that was a cold and windy parkrun! We asked the parkrun Weather Fairy for some help yesterday (@parkrunweatherf) and I think she waved her magic wand as the rain stayed off long enough for 171 runners to finish their run today. It's a good time to remind people to dress for the winter weather whether you're running or volunteering.
I'd like to thank everyone for listening to the pre run brief and heeding our weekly requests to be considerate of other park users and each other, as well as staying on the paths and generally being a super bunch.
Our volunteers in the winter months are very much appreciated! This week's superstars are: Andy MCKAY • Charles MCDONALD • Ciara WEBB • Eleanor BARNARD • Emma LOUGHEED • Gary HALL • Ian A SMITH • Jamie CHERRIE • Jenny BUSH • Joseph BARTLETT • Laura PLUMB • Lorna EADES • Lorraine SYME-SMITH • Mairi EADES • Michelle MCDONALD • Nic ROKANS • Richard MUDIE • Stuart FLETCHER
Volunteering is easy and fun and allows you the opportunity to get to know some of your fellow parkrunners in a different capacity. We have a couple of 'takeovers' in coming weeks but could do with filling the roster on the 12 Dec, 1 Jan, and 2 Jan. Thanks to those who have already come forward to volunteer in coming weeks. You can view the future roster here and contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org. To see how many people read this - what is happening at Portobello parkrun on 26 December?
Just to reiterate my post during the week, please park considerately in the local area. There's usually plenty of parking on Baileyfield Road (near the finish point) rather than inconveniencing local residents. If you can get to parkrun by public transport or under your own steam - even better!
We had loads of visitors today and it was lovely to chat to so many of you! Hello to Lucas NIGHTINGALE from Manchester, Jonathan SIDES from Swinton, Angus Charles DONALD and Joyce DONALD from Dundee, Helen BRANT from Bradford, and James William MORRISON from Teinbridge. Hope you all had a great morning. We also had a big group of Edinburgh Frontrunners visiting today - fancy a takeover in the New Year?!
