Event #201, 23 March 2019

Well what a difference a week makes! It was a beautiful spring morning at Figgate park a complete contrast to last weekend! Here's hoping we have seen the last of the wintery weather and its blue skies and sunshine from here on in!

This week 329 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 28 were first timers and 60 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 34 different clubs took part.

Volunteering at parkrun is a great way to give something back, meet new people and of course have fun. Each role is super easy and you will receive a full briefing before the start.

Our roster is looking a little on the empty side in the coming weeks, if you are able to help please email in with your barcode number to portobello@parkrun.com

Please note that Saturday 27th April is a junior takeover week, where the volunteer roles will be filled by our amazing under 18's.

Today's event was made possible by 21 volunteers:

Scott BALFOUR • Michael Stewart FULLERTON • Tracy-Ann AITON • Robert MAIN • Ciaron FORREST • Clare LEGGE • Laura PRENTICE • Wendy MALKIN • Lisa DRYBURGH • Ross J NICOL • Fiona NICOL • Laura PLUMB • Douglas FORRESTER • Dawn LAWSON • Claire Cakes MATHIESON • Margaret MALCOLM • Walter CARLTON • Dawn-Marie MERCER • Andrew STEWART PALENZUELA • Fraser MAY • David MILNE

The news that made me happy today was getting all our finish tokens back! Thank you!

The things that made me grumpy today were people entering the funnel after only completing two laps and then trying to funnel duck.
Please only enter the funnel if you have completed the full three laps and if you have entered the funnel by mistake please stay in until you have reached the end as both these things create issues for the Run Director when doing the results.

We also had an incident of someone urinating in the park again today. This is completely unacceptable and wont be tolerated at Portobello parkrun. If you are caught your time will be removed from the results.
Toilets are available at Aldi and Morrisons. Details of which can be found on our website.

Congratulations to Grant Bulloch who completed his 50th run today. Well done!
