Event #210, 25 May 2019 No barcode no time!

When I first arrived at Figgate Park this morning I thought we might have an issue with the swans and cygnets blocking the course just down from the start line but luckily they moved by 9:30 and didn't feel the urge to join in parkrun!

This week 402 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 135 were first timers and 49 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 70 different clubs took part from all corners of the UK including Yorkshire, Cambridge, Bedfordshire, Londonshire, Newcastle, Durham, Northumberland, Wales and Manchester......something to do a race or two tomorrow. Good luck to all those racing and spectating!

We had a number of people tell us they'd forgotten their barcode this morning and ask if we could add them in. The simple answer is that we can't - the parkrun rules are simply "no barcode, no time". Barcodes are only added manually if they won't scan, and can be only accepted on paper or one of the parkrun products.  They don't scan off mobile phones. You wouldn't turn up to a race without your race number and expect a time so same applies to parkrun barcodes!

So with that in mind, here are Auntie Emma's top tips to ensure you never forget your barcode again. We're going to adopt a technique i've called "print and plant".....there's 6 barcodes on a sheet of paper so cut them up and plant them in places so you'll never be without one again.....

In your mobile phone case......

In your purse or wallet......

On your keys.....

In the car......

Under the insole of your trainers....

Or maybe on your laces.....

For those who like to travel, put one in your suitcase....

Or even inside your passport....

Print and plant folks, print and plant!!
