Event #223, 31st August 2019

Thankfully the weather decided to play nice this morning and not only did it stay dry, the sun actually made an appearance!

The festival may well be over for another year but that didn't deter the 48 first timers we welcomed to Porty this morning. 267 people ran, jogged and walked the course and 17 of you recorded personal bests. Representatives of 29 clubs took part.

Thank you for the alternative course feedback again this morning. It does seem to be working well. A few reminders though...

-No buggies or dogs will be able to participate during the alternative route course.

-Single file, slow down and keep left along the narrow section where we are running in both directions.

-No overtaking to take place in the tunnel

These rules are in place for the safety of yourself, other runners and also members of the public.

We had a few milestones and mentions this morning, congratulations to you all:

150th parkrun for Sandy MacDonald

100th parkrun and 25th volunteer for Julia Loecherbach

Happy 50th Birthday for Neil Main

parkrun only happens thanks to volunteers. We had a great response to our appeal earlier in the week but we still have plenty of gaps in September. If you can help please email in with your barcode number to portobello@parkrun.com

On Saturday 12th October we are having a First time volunteers "takeover". We are looking for people who've never volunteered before to come along and give it a go. All the roles are super easy and you will be fully briefed on the day.

The event was made possible by 23 volunteers:

Ann RAUTENBACH • Robert MAIN • Ciaron FORREST • Lynne COWDEN • Emma LOUGHEED • Julia LOECHERBACH • Robbie YATES • Oliver FERIA-YATES • Lisa DRYBURGH • Alison ROWE • Sophie ROWE • Gary HALL • Rachael SINCLAIR • Louise TURNER • Claire Cakes MATHIESON • Nicholas MENY • Catherine CUMMING • Helen RALSTON • Quinn UNGLESS • Fraser MAY • David MILNE • Katie NEVANS • Peter GERRARD
