I guess a few people stayed at home because of he rain! But 138 parkrunners and 29 volunteers made the journey to Lakeside for parkrun #135.
As I arrived the rain was giving the set up team a hard time, most were soaked to the skin but all were still smiling.
An extra special thank you to all the volunteers for braving the weather!
We gathered under the covered area waiting to be called over to the start line, the first timers were briefed (yes there were 2 who turned up and ran their first ever parkrun despite the weather) well done and welcome Mark Tyler and Scott Andrews and also welcome to the 13 tourists, we hope you will all return.
As the rain started to ease the RD called the rest of us over for the main briefing and we were soon underway.
Lots of puddles and a pond under the subway, but we could run with confidence knowing that the path was firm underfoot - I did see an early faller who had gallantly tried to pick up a friends dropped mobile phone, but he was soon up and running.
Somehow there were 15 new PBs run today including Thomas Bates on his 50th run.
Other milestones today, Peter Roper and Emma Searle both running their 100th parkruns
Afterwards over a well deserved hot chocolate, I chatted with some of the regulars about tourism and statistics...... I thought these links may be of general interest
