Prudhoe Riverside parkrun 27th July 2019 Run Report

There was a glitch in Summer today. Or was all dumped simultaneously on us last week. I hope I’m wrong on both counts there. It wouldn’t be the first time either. During the course check it became apparent that the early morning storm(s) had created some really big puddles, and made it a bit slippy underfoot in parts. Based on this, I announced during the RD Briefing that it wasn’t really PB conditions. Twelve of you proved me wrong, including today's first finisher, maybe it was the motivation to get out of the rain? Anyway, Joe, you left so quickly, you forgot your hoodie. Don’t worry, it’s safe and I’ll give it a wash for you. At least, I hope it’s yours. Anyway, well done to everyone who brought home a new PB, especially in those conditions!
Hopefully the eleven first timers weren’t put off by the weather (it doesn’t rain here every Saturday) and will be back in more clement times. We had visitors from Derby, Cambridge, and...there was somewhere else, but I’m sorry, I’ve forgotten where! Milestones were reached by Kate Lloyd celebrating her 50th parkrun, while Jason Brooker and Paul Griffin ran their 100th Prudhoe Riverside parkruns. Fellow Run Director Phil Hindmarsh and his wife Maria marked their 23rd Wedding Anniversary with a run in the rain, and it was lovely to see them cross the finish together! Awwww! All in all 101 (hah! That could explain a lot) parkrunners made a splash and plenty of smiles on a very soggy Saturday morning!
Holiday season is well and truly upon us, and quite a few of our regular volunteers are indulging in a week or two away. This makes it a bit trickier to fill the roster, so thank you very much to those who braved the rain for me this morning:

Joanne LUCKING • Graham YATES • Mel REED • Samantha DAY • Tony BROWN • Steven BRADY • Amanda FLETCHER • John PAGE • Molly PAGE • Claire DAVIES • Paul REVILL • Claire WIDMER • Tracy WARHURST-WALKER • Jordan REED • Beth DAVIES

If you want to rock the hi-viz look, check our roster - - then drop us an email - - or comment on our Facebook page with your barcode number. Amanada kicked off her birthday celebrations by Tailwalking today, and Claire will reap the rewards of her 25th volunteer stint by being eligible for a free t shirt! Can’t make a Saturday? Our Sunday junior parkrun is always happy to have new volunteers too, you can find out more here -

I think that’s enough from me for now, plus the washing needs hanging (no, not your hoodie Joe, the volunteer jackets took priority there) so until next week #loveparkrun and #dfybc.
