Prudhoe Riverside parkrun 9th November 2019 Run Report

Winter is here…

Or it certainly felt like it this morning, took me half an hour to get out of bed after the alarm went off. Prudhoe wasn’t subject to the same unfortunate cancelations as both Newcastle parkruns, Blackhill, and Durham. Which was surprising considering there was a Boaden running the show. If you know.

Despite the low temperatures, it certainly didn’t deter hardy parkrunners, as 162 of you rocked up to tackle our course. Maybe it was the cancelations, maybe it was the fact it was pacer week, or maybe it was because it was Prudhoe Riverside parkruns THIRD BIRTHDAY!!! Whoo-hoo! Thank you to everyone who’s come to see us, been a regular runner, or volunteer over the last three years, we like to think we’ve got something a bit different and special here at Prudhoe. And we don’t just mean certain members of the Core Team.
It was a bit disappointing that the Run Director didn’t sing Happy Birthday mind, I mean, what’s the point of having such a wonderful PA system if it isn’t fully utilised?

Anyway, there were 20 first timers this morning and 12 new Personal Bests achieved, good going considering it was a bit claggy around the back of the course. The whole thing wouldn’t be possible without these wonderful, wonderful people:

Graham YATES • Richard WEYMES • Mel REED • Paul RAFFERTY • Michael BOADEN • Kirsten JOHNSON • Michael WRIGHT • Holly KELLEHER • Danny GILHOLME • Paul ROBINSON • Tony BROWN • Helen BOADEN • Haydn WEYMES • Billy MAITLAND • Nicola MACLEAN • Victoria LANCASTER • Simon HEAL • Gillian TAIT • Paul TAIT • Paul SMITH • Donna BRENNAN • Robin BERKLEY

If you were just visiting today, we hope you’re back soon, half the time there’s cake at the end other than no reason than...well...cake! And if you want to be part of our Saturday morning crew and don the hi-viz, just check the roster - - and comment on our facebook page - - with your barcode number or drop an email to

Thank you to everyone who brought a donation for Feeding Families over the last two weeks. This may be something we’re doing again next week, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information.

I think that’ll do for now, hopefully I got everything there. Have an excellent week and we’ll be back next Saturday! #dfybc
