Prudhoe Riverside parkrun 28th December 2019 Run Report

Here we are at the time of year between Christmas and New Year which, for many people, loses any linear meaning. What day is it? Should you be at work? Why aren’t the kids at school? Where did all this food come from? Is it chocolate for breakfast again? Thankfully parkrun offers a beacon of stability in this sea of chaos, it MUST be Saturday, right? Right! And it was this morning I chose to get my 50th parkrun in before a new decade began. It sadly wasn’t the the new PB I was after, but the amazing chocolate and banana cake made by Event Director Holly, made up for that.
One parkrunner who DID get a PB on their 50th today was Ed Patterson, and he and I joined in with the other 187(!!) who joined in with this mornings event. There were 25 first timers at Prudhoe, including First Finisher Owain, 7 of which were parkrun debutants. 20 PBs were achieved, and we had visitors from Shropshire, Hertfordshire, Rugby, and a contingency from Ealing Eagles Running Club. I also thought I heard Nottingham(?). Well done to all of you, and we hope those tourists and first timers will come back and see us again. Of course, the whole thing is impossible without this bunch of absolute legends, our volunteers!

Want to see your own name up there? Of course you do! Just email with your barcode number and offer of help. You can check the roster for where we need help here - Alternatively, keep an eye out for out volunteer shout-outs on the facebook page -
Now, it does get a bit more confusing next week. We are on New Years Day, at half ten. Seriously. You can find a list of all NYD parkruns and their start times here - Some start at nine, so it’s a day where you can ‘do the double’. For example, you could do Blackhill or Tyne Green at nine, then come to Prudhoe for half ten. Just...don’t forget your barcode. And we’ll be back to ‘normal’ on January 4th.
From all of us here at Prudhoe Riverside parkrun, we hope you thoroughly enjoyed however you celebrate Christmas, and we wish you a very happy New Year. Thank you to everyone who run regularly, who has visited and especially to our volunteers. We look forwards to seeing you achieve your milestones and PB’s in 2020.
