When did you take part in your first parkrun event at Raphael?
What made you come along that very first time? How did you hear about parkrun? Did someone encourage you to come along?
I recently moved to the area, and joined Harold Wood running Club, they encourage attending local parkruns, Raphael parkrun is the clubs Home parkrun. I was amazed at the concept of this timed event and the fact it is free was brilliant! I was instantly hooked!
I love parkrun because...
It encourages a friendly environment for which anyone can participate, its such a great start to a Saturday! Helps a lot of people with not just fitness but mentally also!
Which is your favourite volunteer role and why?
I've done most roles including Run Director, however the most enjoyable role for me is the Finish tokens! You get to stand at the finish line and shout at all runners on their home straight encouraging them to the Finish!
Anything else? Such as who you come along with, favourite Raphael parkrun memory, favourite part of the course, milestone memories, fun facts about you...
Not sure what else to say, other than this is a great weekly event, it helped me get my 5k PB, which I would not have done without the support of HWRC and this timed Event. Socially also I have met some great people in the local area and other Running clubs that attend. I would also like to say a BIG SHOUT OUT, to the core Team who are so professional in what they do, and give up their free time each week to help others!!
