What a fantastic morning.
On behalf of the Heaton Harriers, I would like to say thank you to parkrun for letting us ‘takeover’ and thank you to all the runners that fed back such lovely comments about the marshalling today. I would also like to thank the Heaton Harrier family for being so easy to manage this morning – you made my job so much easier. Thank you also to our other marshals, Sean and Mick, and especially John Fotheringham who was visiting from Dunfermline.
If anyone is interested in finding out more about Heaton Harriers, we run out of Blue Flames, please see our website or get in touch with myself (Abbie).
If anyone is interested in volunteering at parkrun, please get in touch with Rising Sun parkrun.
So today 385 runners and walkers crossed the finish line on what is parkrun’s 15th birthday. Also celebrating today was Philippa Thuckeral and Charlotte Moon, both running their 50th parkrun – WELL DONE; and Joan O’Neil who was running her 100th parkrun – FABULOUS.
I would also like to say an enormous well done to Ed Lilly who completed his first ever parkrun. He completed it in a wheelchair – we are happy you chose Rising Sun as your first and look forward to seeing you again and again and again.
As part of parkrun’s 15th birthday, we were honoured with one of the 15 Golden Batons, put out into the universe by one of our sponsors, Leeds Building Society. They are are all GPS tracked to see where they end up. Today John Whittle brought the baton from a parkrun in Leeds and passed it on – where will it end up next?
Finishing token 327 is missing in action – if you have it, please could you let us know.
If anyone picked up a Batman water bottle this morning please let us know so that we can return it to one of our young runners.
Thank you again. Abbie RD
