Rising Sun parkrun Event number 192 14th March 2020

So it was a wee bit chilly and windy, but at least the rain held off, this morning up at the Rising Sun country park.
Well done to all our runners who came out to run around the park and to all our visitor and first timers we hope that you all had a great time running with us this morning.
Please can I remind all runners that if you go though the timers at the end of the run to please collect a position token and then go to the scanners, as this has a knock on effect with processing the results, also can you remember to drop your position token in the container so that we have them for the following week if anyone has position token 191 please return it or just drop it into the token box next week.
On a positive note we were lucky enough to receive another parkrun Golden Baton this morning, which we have already passed on to two visiting runners to carry it on its journey across the country next weekend......
Have a fantastic weekend and hopefully we will see you all next week.

Rising Sun parkrun Event number 190 29th February 2020

What a lovely morning to enjoy our beautiful Rising Sun Country Park - we are privileged to have access to such a beautiful setting for our course.

Well done to our 290 runners and 36 volunteers who took part in the first ever parkrun to be held on 29th February - if you missed it you just have 28 years to wait for the next one - lol

Special thanks to Gosforth Social Running Club for their volunteer takeover and to our Core Team Member Sue Walton on achieving 150 volunteer credits.

Unfortunately we have received 3 separate complaints this morning that all have to be investigated and reported on. As a result can we please remind you of the following:

** We do not have priority over other park users. They have just as much right to use the park as we do and they do so each and every day of the week. Verbal abuse will not be tolerated! The safety and comfort of ALL park users is more important than a person's PB!

** parkrunners are allowed to run with 1 dog on a short lead - the dog MUST be kept on the lead throughout the run.

** If running with a dog and the dog does it's business, be a responsible dog owner and clean it up, do not leave it for someone else to step in it.

** As explained every week in the pre run brief, children under 11 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult.

Next week is our International Women's Day event in partnership with TGCR and we'd love to celebrate with as many of you as possible so why not bring a friend.

Have a good week

Thanks to all our fantastic Volunteers for your continued support, to ensure that we keep everyone safe on the route today.
Remember the 8th of March is International Women Day, so on the 7th we will be celebrating it at parkrun so put the date in your diary.

So it was a chilly morning but at least the stormy winds held off, and enabled us to have the sunshine for all our runners, joggers, walkers and awesome volunteers.
Welcome and well done to our first timers, and our visitors, we hope that you had a great morning, and will come back next week,or whenever your this way again.

Congratulations to David Curran on running your 50th parkrun and Kay Black on her 50th volunteering at Rising Sun.

Great seeing our VI runners and there guides again this week thanks to Karen and Jack for safely helping Beth and Janet round the course.

Lastly a massive thank you to our volunteers for helping make the event happen by standing out in the cold, but also the 40+ who became Rising Sun parkrun Wombles, after parkrun had finished and cleared the whole route between points 6 (Davidson's Garage) to point 7 (Butterfly gates) of every bit of rubbish along that stretch, a totally fantastic effort by you all. We couldn't have ask for more enthusiastic bunch of litter pickers, from all the Core Team a massive thank you for today.

Have a fantastic week, and I'm very sorry about the late results but things happen, and we just have to do the best when we can.
