The 2016/17 Festive Period

Due to park closures and/or volunteer commitments, Rother Valley parkrun will not be hosting additional events on Xmas Day 2016, or New Years Day 2017. Our normal Saturday events will take place on Xmas Eve and New Years Eve. Check out the parkrun Christmas Compendium to see which local events are holding additional runs during the festive period: Here

December & Festive events at RVp

We've now secured Run Directors for all events throughout December, Xmas and New Year - all we need now is enough volunteers to ensure that the events can safely go ahead and all roles to be covered. Please drop us a line if you'd like to help out: rothervalleyhelpers@parkrun.com

The details of the events over Xmas and New Year are as follows:

  • Xmas Day - Park closed = No event
  • Saturday 26th December (Boxing Day) - Normal Saturday event, 9:00am start
  • New Years Day - Additional event - start time 10:30am
  • Saturday 2nd January - normal Saturday event, 9:00am start.

So all events are as normal, except for the New Years Day event will takes place on a Friday and starts at 10:30am. And just to clarify... these events can only go ahead if we have enough volunteers and the weather conditions are safe.

Christmas and New Year parkruns

Announcement regarding Christmas and New Year parkruns (OK, I know it's not even December yet, but we want to get this announcement out early so people are in the know)

Some of you may know that some places stage extra parkrun events on Christmas Day and New Years Day.....

We have looked into the possibility of doing this at Rother Valley, but due to park closures and/or other commitments of the core event team, we're unable to stage these extra events this year.

parkrun will continue as normal on the Saturdays throughout the festive period and to get into the spirit of things, we'd like to encourage a Christmas themed (*optional*) fancy dress run on Saturday 21st December (we'll post about this nearer the time to remind everyone).

For anyone that wants to find a parkrun on Christmas or New Year, there is a handy page here letting you know where events are being held - many are still in the undecided stage so you may need to check nearer the time..

Ho Ho Ho! Keep up the good running and see you all soon!
