This morning we had Roundhay parkrun with a difference! Due to an event in the park it wasn't on the normal route, we didn't get to go up the really long hill... we got to go up a shorter, steeper hill instead, 5 times!
A big thanks to the event team and volunteers who made it go ahead despite the event in the park. I think we'll all be thankful to get back to the normal hill! The revised course didn't stop 18 runners achieving PB's today! well done
We met near the mansion and walked to the back of the cricket pavilion to start
The route went up the hill towards the mansion with a little stretch on the grass then a short (ahem) steeper hill to the path along the front of the mansion. It then followed the normal route until past the cricket pavilion when you turned left to start another lap. It was 4 laps and 5 times up the hill. 336 people took part today of whom 36 were first timers. It follows a lot of the Junior parkrun 2k route, thumbs up to the kids who do this every Sunday!
The volunteers were brilliant today, there were 27 volunteers and Nessie the dog helping to tailwalk. We couldn't have a parkrun without them so please consider volunteering in the future! It's fun and you get to wear a fashionable high vis vest!
Next week Roundhay parkrun isn't taking place due to the triathlon. You can still get your parkrun fix, Potternewton is your nearest one. It's on Harehills lane and is a beautiful park. It's well worth a visit! There are lots of parkruns in the Leeds area for you to check out, we'd love to hear where you get to!
Well done to all the runners and walkers today and I'll see you back on the 15th June for a Roundhay Runners takeover.
