After a decidedly gloomy week the rain finally subsided and gave way to glorious sunshine which was great timing to welcome a whopping 432 parkrunners who ran, jogged or walked the course.
It was Roundhay Runners’ take over week with volunteers from their local club on hand to celebrate the graduation of their couch to 5k programme, going from zero running to 5k in only 8 weeks, congratulations to all of you, what an achievement!
We welcomed visitors today from Windsor, Harrow and even Melbourne Australia.
It was great to see North Leeds Football club joining us and Leeds Roller Derby who were supporting one of their members who is embarking soon on the Outlaw Triathlon whilst fundraising for both the Roller Derby (which is self-funded), and the charity MIND, good luck in the Iron man!!
Our mini mermaids joined us from St John’s school and made light weight of the hill of doom, well done!!
Special mentions to Lucy Cohen and Krystof Perry running their 50th park runs, with Krystof also achieving a new PB.
Congratulations to Steve Mills-Haunch and Hannah Parmley who celebrated 100 park runs.
76 people made their first visit to Roundhay park run today, and 73 people left with a shiny new PB, woohoo! We welcomed representatives from 25 different running clubs, some local and some further afield.
The first three men through the finishing funnel were:- Benjamin Douglas 16.08, Marcos Angel Valero Palacios 16.17 and David Middlemas 18.34, all achieving PB’s or running the course for the first time.
They were closely followed by the ladies :- Katie Brown 19.15 achieving a new PB, Laura Emily Dransfield 20.02 and Rachel Davidson 20.41
Finally, thanks to the fabulous volunteers who made this event happen.
