Run Report 15/09/18

Our 69th event and my last stint as RD. It has been a real pleasure being involved since the first conversation I had with Lynsey doing a litter pick up in the park around 2 years ago. Its been really fun seeing visitors and locals take part, and to see the park being used every week. I also think that the connections, and community that has been made between all our regulars runner and volunteers, and our new RDs, is amazing. As strange as it may seem, for me it has never been about just running. Parkrun is an expression of community and is great to see. I plan to stay part of that community, just in a different way. So thanks everyone for making it a great couple years!

And with that - on to the run...

What a week - parkrun newbies and lots of PBs! This week 73 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 29 were first timers and 17 recorded new Personal Bests. The Linwood/Pollock group, Team Barry Island, a couple from South Africa, and visitors from Hobart, Tasmania - back to Glasgow this weekend after having lived / worked here around 40 years ago! Welcome back!

Ruchill parkrun 48 – April 21, 2018

Beautiful sunshine and spring flowers this morning provided an appropriate backdrop as we welcomed another 21 first timers, meaning we have now reached over 1000 parkrunners at Ruchill. For us, this is one thing that stands out among the many that make us proud: the fact that in the space of our first year we have welcomed over a thousand people from all over Glasgow, across Scotland, all parts of the UK, and from around the world, to our wee parkrun. That really demonstrates the magic of parkrun and the reach that it has.

Well done to each and every person who has completed our parkrun over this past year, perhaps with special mention to Evangelie DUNN for being the 1000th to cross the finish line.
