Ruchill parkrun #79, 24th November 2018

Representatives of 18 different clubs took part. Congratulations to all our runners, especially to Alexandra NORRIS. Alex became the first person to complete 50 parkruns exclusively at Ruchill this morning, narrowly beating me to that title by a single run. Congratulations to her! It's great that we have a core group of regular runners, but we are grateful for all our visitors too. Please do come back of you enjoyed your time at Ruchill!

Ruchill parkrun 48 – April 21, 2018

Beautiful sunshine and spring flowers this morning provided an appropriate backdrop as we welcomed another 21 first timers, meaning we have now reached over 1000 parkrunners at Ruchill. For us, this is one thing that stands out among the many that make us proud: the fact that in the space of our first year we have welcomed over a thousand people from all over Glasgow, across Scotland, all parts of the UK, and from around the world, to our wee parkrun. That really demonstrates the magic of parkrun and the reach that it has.

Well done to each and every person who has completed our parkrun over this past year, perhaps with special mention to Evangelie DUNN for being the 1000th to cross the finish line.

This week 55 people ran, jogged and walked the course, and 11 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 8 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 13 volunteers:

This week saw 58 people run, jog and walk the whale-shaped course at Ruchill park; of these 13 were first timers and, no doubt aided by the resurfacing of the paths and glorious Spring sunshine, 20 people recorded new Personal Bests. Well done all.

Perhaps special mention ought to go to Kara BOYD, age 10, who completed her first ever parkrun, supported and encouraged all the way by her mum, and finished not too far behind her big brother Finn. Kara reported feeling 'good, but tired' afterwards. We can all share that sentiment - congratulations and hopefully this is the start of a great parkrun adventure for her.

Special thanks to all of you, but perhaps just a special mention for Sarah SELF among this week's volunteers who traveled through from Edinburgh on one of her many parkrun volunteer tourism jaunts.

One of the most rewarding things about being involved with parkrun, amongst many of others of course, is welcoming newcomers along to their very first parkrun. Today, alongside six runners in the hundred club and a further two with over 300 parkruns in the bag, we had yet another making their debut parkrun at Ruchill - welcome to Katie TURNER - lets hope it is the first of many for you.
