Ruchill parkrun #31 – 11/11/17

With the first frost of the winter season, the Ruchill parkrun volunteers finally got the chance to make use of the handily installed grit bins in the park! Capturing a few latecomers from the cancelled Victoria parkrun, this week 54 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 5 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 9 different clubs took part. We hope those who got the chance to try out our route enjoyed the challenge and come back again soon!

The event was made possible by 11 fantastic volunteers, who put in a great effort making sure the run could go ahead, and kept a good eye on our runners on a wet and frosty course. So many thanks to:

Lynsey PARKER • Caroline SMITH • Wendy GERVAIS • Jeanette C. CRAIG • Allen CAMPBELL • Alistair MITCHELL • Julia SCOTT • Finn BOYD • Margaret NEWMAN • Barbara WATT • Lawrence GERVAIS

Special thanks to all of you, but perhaps just a special mention for Sarah SELF among this week's volunteers who traveled through from Edinburgh on one of her many parkrun volunteer tourism jaunts.

One of the most rewarding things about being involved with parkrun, amongst many of others of course, is welcoming newcomers along to their very first parkrun. Today, alongside six runners in the hundred club and a further two with over 300 parkruns in the bag, we had yet another making their debut parkrun at Ruchill - welcome to Katie TURNER - lets hope it is the first of many for you.

Ruchill parkrun #20 – 26/08/17

The twentieth Ruchill parkrun!
26th August 2017

With relatively little fanfare – to be honest we forgot it was our twentieth parkrun at Ruchill, having expended all our party spirit on last week’s Team GB event – 47 people ran, walked and jogged round our twentieth parkrun, some from as near as Ruchill Street and some from as far as Perth (Australia), plus a handful of visitors from elsewhere including Manchester, Perth (Tayside) and, not least, a sprinkling of visitors from Tollcross parkrun.

Despite the good forecast, the runners and volunteers contended with light drizzle, heavy drizzle and medium drizzle, but in temperatures so mild that many will have been grateful the sun didn’t come out til later on Saturday.

Our first male and female finishers were both new to the course – well done to Matthew O'Brien of Garscube Harriers, first over the line in 18:15, and to Magda Walesa, first female in 23:39.

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers: thanks to Chris, Alex, Joan, Laura, Lynsey, James, Paul, Amanda, Finn, George and wee Luca.

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Ruchill parkrun Results Page.

Ruchill parkrun #19 – 19/08/17

Half of our runners were first timers this week, with a few who were first timers not just to Ruchill, but to parkrun as a whole! Well done to you all and hope to see you back again!

This week 36 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 18 were first timers and 4 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 9 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers - thank you all who came along to offer your support, our Run director hadn't done it for a while, and the whole thing was made so much easier by having such awesome volunteers available. Once again a big round of applause to:
