This week's run report has been written by Darcy, one of our DofE volunteers.
The weather was sunny, with no wind, and pleasant for running. It was a frosty morning with ice on the ground.
My volunteering up until now has all taken place at the Wellesley course, so this was only my second time being at the official course (Queens Avenue, Aldershot) as I was away over the Christmas holidays.
This week was the first time I have actually run Parkrun. I enjoyed taking part because everyone is friendly and encourages each other to keep going. The briefing warned us about the ice on the path and muddy puddles to avoid slipping. It was sunny but the dogs weren’t keen to run as the ground was icy. I can imagine that running this course is probably easier than the alternative course because runners don’t have to worry about the narrow path or falling into the canal!
It was the biggest Rushmoor Parkrun ever with 740 runners, the previous record was 715. It’s nice to be back on the Queens Avenue course so that runners with dogs and pushchairs can all take part.
My experience of running park run was good and I’d definitely do it again.
