New Year 2020

This year we will be holding a New Year's day parkrun again, at 10:30am in order to enable the Scunthorpe double with running or safe travel time from Normanby Hall.

This decision will be reviewed annually,

No Christmas Day event at Scunthorpe this year

Sorry, but the volunteers need a break and have decided against holding a run on Christmas Day this year.

This decision will be reviewed annually - though next year it's a Friday and 2021 it's a Saturday anyway?!

Scunthorpe parkrun No. 348

The 348th Scunthorpe parkrun saw 413 people run, jog and walk the course: 26 were first timers of whom 11 were brand new to parkrun - welcome to you all and we hope this becomes a habit to you all! 59 people recorded new Personal Bests - well done!

Representatives of 24 different clubs took part and we had visitors from Market Rasen and Durham.

Congratulations on milestones to Faris Alderson (10th), Catherine Butterill (50th), Pat Danby and Colin Smithson (200th). Well done to you all but, as ever, fantastic effort by all of you - every run is a milestone (or 3!).

Scunthorpe parkrun is run entirely by volunteers - why not plan in a week every two months to see what it's like from the other side (email us at Scunthorpe@parkrun.com) - you don't have to be injured to volunteer!!

Our high vis heroes this week were:

Michael HEMMINGS • Tim FOX • Andrew CALPIN • Graham YOUNG • Malcolm MARSHALL • Jeanette CLARK • Richard HOLLINGSWORTH • Susan KEMSHALL • Mary MCDONALD • Lynn FRANCE • Richard FRANCE • Kath KYNASTON • Alice THORNE • Susan ETCHELL • Neil CURTIS • John ETCHELL • Malcolm CLARK • Sue JENKIN • Wayne GAMMON • Andy RUDDOCK • Glyn WILKINSON • Iain PARKER • Heather MCSHARRY • Rich GRAHAM

Special mention to the core of our core team - Kath Kynaston quietly clocked up her 250th volunteer week last week, joining the 250 volunteer club with Susan Kemshall, Mary McDonald and Lynn France who between them have now volunteered 1051 times!! THANK YOU from all our runners and RDs - rain or shine, frost or wind, you are brilliant!

There were 28 first timers to the course, including 15 who chose this as their first ever parkrun. Welcome to parkrun! It is certainly one you will remember.
