We'd like to say a big thank you to all the runners, volunteers and supporters who joined us on 17th November for the very first Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park junior parkrun.
Despite the rain we had 48 runners running the two laps around the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. We were delighted that 20 of those had never run a parkrun before and so their first experience of the world of parkrun was with us. We look forward to seeing all the runners and plenty more in future weeks. Everyone should have received their results via email and / or text, if you spot any mistakes then just let us know.
We had some great feedback from both the volunteers and runners about how much they enjoyed the event, that it was a friendly atmosphere and how good the course was. The final sprint up the 100 metre track to the finish line really helped keep the tired legs moving.
One minor point is that we re-use the finish tokens every week - if you've accidentally taken token number 16 away with you then please let us know and drop it back with us next week.
One of the consequences of the rain was that all the equipment was soaked through. Don't worry we'll make sure it's all dry and ready for next week. If you'd like to join us as a volunteer next week (and wear a dry hi-vis) then just let us know via firstname.lastname@example.org If you could please opt in (on the email options of your parkrun profile) to receive volunteer requests then that would be greatly appreciated.
Finally a big thank you to our supporters for kindly contributing towards the set up funding and making our junior parkrun possible - Sheffield International Venues, B Braun Medical Ltd, Henry Boot Construction, N Prime, BAM Construct UK, Smart Metal Solutions and Accelerate Running.
Look out for our Facebook page which will be launched this week. Please like it and spread the word about Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park junior parkrun. We look forward to seeing you next Sunday at 9am.
