Permission to Return to Shorne Woods!
So today we're delighted to be able to let you know that Kent County Council have given us permission to return to Shorne Woods! We'll let you digest that piece of news after 15 months without parkrun, before reading on for some important caveats to that news...
...now you may have seen the various communications from parkrun HQ about the need to have a significant majority of events in England with permission to return before we can restart. This ensures that those events able to restart (which would hopefully be all of them) aren't over run because surrounding events aren't on. We'll find out this Friday (11th June) whether this is going to happen, and if parkrun do give the green light, the earliest we'd be restarting is the 26th June.
The other factor is the update from the Government on easing the final set of restrictions (scheduled for the 21st June) and depending on what is announced, this may also impact our return date. The Government is currently due to make this annoucenment on the 14th June, at which point parkrun will give a final "go/no go for restart!" after that.
Once we have confirmation of our start date, we'll let you know on here, along with facebook, twitter and instagram, but also we'll share the changes that you can expect to find when we do return. The fundementals are the same, however you won't be surprised to hear that there will be a few changes to how we and the Country Park operate.
We're hugely appreciative of Kent County Council giving us permission to return, and this is a huge first step to Saturday mornings returning to parkrunday! However please keep an eye out for further updates, as we've still a couple more steps to take first before we know exactly when we'll be back.
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
