Shorne Woods parkrun Run Report – 24th July 2021

With so many fingers and toes crossed for the return of parkrun, it has actually happened despite the weather. Our prayers were answered and the rain held off for 125 of you to make a return pilgrimage to Shorne. Welcome back old timers, and welcome to our 4 first timers.

A big shout out to Dan Smith who finally got to complete his 100th parkrun this morning and he blasted his way around the course with a new PB to be the first finisher.

Congratulations to the owners of 15 shiny new PBs this morning. A great achievement after so many months away.

Nice new paths courtesy of the Country Park make the appearance of the big puddles a thing of the past. A slightly different course and start which may or may not have confused some latecomers, especially as we got away close to 9 am (unheard of I know).

A big thank you to our core team who have must have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the continuation of our parkrun. Your work is much appreciated.

Sadly two of our regular park runners are no longer with us - Kevin Ladley and Barrie Howes. Our condolences to all their friends and family.

As always a big thank you to all of our volunteers. The pink really suits you all!

...Many thanks to Julie for this week's run report, you can also find a few more photos & a video from yesterday here.

And so to next week, when we'll be back to do it all again!  If you weren't able to make yesterday, but would like to understand the changes that have been made so you're all prepared for for when you can get back to us, you can find everything you need to know here.

We're always on the look out for volunteers to help out, and you can find out the available roles for Saturday, and future weeks, on the roster.  All roles are straightforward, and we'll take you through everything you need to know.  For scanning and timing, these are now done using the parkrun virtual volunteer app, which you need to download to your phone, but again we can talk you through using the app if you haven't done this before.  If you would like to help out, please drop us an email at

Fantastic to see everyone yesterday, and look forward to seeing you all next Saturday.
