Event #297 – the one with Darwin


As part of the annual Darwin in Shrewsbury festival, we held our bearded/Darwin themed parkrun. Event Director Paul was invited onto Radio Shropshire to have a chat about it and all things parkrun last Friday evening and Sat am.

This week 646 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 59 were first timers and 118 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 34 different clubs took part.

The female record is held by Clara EVANS who recorded a time of 17:19 on 24th November 2018 (event number 239).
The male record is held by Andrew DAVIES who recorded a time of 15:16 on 22nd December 2018 (event number 243).
The Age Grade course record is held by Vivian MCCONNELL who recorded 97.25% (19:24) on 31st October 2015 (event number 100).

Shrewsbury parkrun started on 28th September 2013. Since then 15,059 participants have completed 118,649 parkruns covering a total distance of 593,245 km, including 20,165 new Personal Bests. A total of 1,274 individuals have volunteered 10,016 times.
