Christmas Day and New Year 2020

Silksworth parkrun will not be holding runs on Christmas Day or New years Day. The ski lodge is closed on those days and so we do not have a defib available to the event on those days.

Santa hat, angel wings or a mince pie?

Sat 22nd Dec come along dressed up to celebrate Christmas. We want to see a plethora of Santa hats, Santa outfits, elf costumes, fairies, angels, shepherds, wise men (we'll be lucky), cows/sheep (one per parkrunner on a short lead), Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus (within arms length of a responsible adult) and any other costumes even vaguely related to the Christmas period and in however a manner you choose to celebrate it. This is your Sunderland parkrun family and it's our Christmastime parkrun together. Everyone, it's time to twinkle twinkle and sparkle like a little parkrun star.

Christmas and New Years Day

Sunderland parkrun will not be holding a Christmas Day run, but we will be holding a New Years Day run at 9am.

Sunderland foodbank Saturday

Happy midweek everyone. This coming Saturday will be our first parkrun of November and hence we’ll be holding our usual Sunderland foodbank collection. There is absolutely no expectation that you will donate, but if you are able and you would like to, the foodbank is most in need of Tinned Fruit, Tinned Fish, Coffee, Custard, Rice Pudding and Tinned Potatoes/Instant Mash. (They have plenty of Beans, Dried Pasta, UHT milk, Cereal and Biscuits). Thank you. Please note, we will also have a student coming along who is making a film for Sunderland Foodbank.

Popping out to the shops?

This Saturday is our '1st Sat of the month Sunderland foodbank collection', so if you can bring along any long life foodstuffs that would be great. They are in particular need of tinned fruit, tinned fish, coffee, custard, rice pudding, tinned potatoes/instant mash. (They have plenty of beans, dried pasta, UHT milk, cereal and biscuits.)

Change of route from this Saturday (16 June 2018)

Hello Sunderland parkrunners.

So this post is to let everyone know that from this Saturday (16 June 2018) Sunderland parkrun will start and finish near the Ski Lodge at the Skate Park.

We have made this change as Everyone Active have kindly offered use of a room within the Ski Lodge both before and after the event, in addition we will have access to toilets and shower facilities. Storage will also now be right next to our start finish area making it easier for those involved in event setup and close down.

We welcome the benefits of this new arrangement including free tea & coffee after the event while the café will be open to serve breakfast sandwiches etc (price to be arranged).
This gives us a great opportunity to meet together in our own space, share milestone cake and have a cuppa.

The route will take place along the same paths as before.
The event starts at the Skate Park and participants head along towards Silksworth Lane. Turn at the tree and go back along the path taking the turn to the right and head down the hill. At the bottom of the hill turn left and follow the bottom path along to the end.
At the end of the path head left and complete two laps of the lake. On completing the two laps head back along the bottom path turning right at the bridge and finishing back at the start.

We hope that more of you will join us in our new space after the event where we will enjoy a hot drink while we process the results and sort the tokens.

We’d like to thank Everyone Active for their support in making this space available to us.

Jane (Sunderland parkrun ED)
